Privacy Policy Statement
Korea University International Summer Campus strives to protect the personal information of its users.

All personal information managed by Korea University International Summer Campus is collected, retained, and managed pursuant to the relevant Acts and subordinate statutes or with consent of the subjects of information. The Act on the Protection of Personal Information Maintained by Public Institutions provides the norms for such management of personal information, and Korea University will collect, retain, and manage personal information in accordance with the rules of the Act and the management will be conducted in such lawful and proper manner to perform the public duty and protect the rights and interests of the public.

Korea University International Summer Campus has implemented the management policy detailed below to protect personal information.
  1. Items of Personal Information Collected
    1. Personal Information Items
      1. Name, gender, date of birth, email address, phone number, address, nationality, passport number, name of school, GPA, major, student ID number, emergency contact (name and phone number), student (or a parent¡¯s) bank account number and the account holder¡¯s name
    2. Method of Collection
      1. Applicants enter their information in the online application form

  2. Purpose of Collection and Use of Personal Information
    1. Korea University International Summer Campus uses the collected personal information for student administration purposes including student management, establishment of statistical data and its analysis, provision of scholarships, and mailing of transcripts.

  3. Disclosure of Personal Information
    1. Korea University International Summer Campus may manage personal information to fulfill the intended purpose notified under ¡°2. Purpose of collection and use of personal information¡± above and may not use it beyond the intended purpose and not disclose to outside parties without prior consent of the subject of information except for any of the following cases:
      1. Personal information must not be used beyond the intended purpose or disclosed to other institutions except when use of the agency in possession or disclosure to an outside party is necessary under any other Acts. Notwithstanding the foregoing, personal information may be used beyond the intended purpose or disclosed to an outside party in any of the following cases. (However, this will be restricted when there are concerns about possible infringement on the rights and interests of a subject of information or a third party);
      2. Where the consent of the subject of information has been obtained or the information is provided to the subject of information;
      3. Where there are considerable reasons for the use of personal information to perform affairs provided for in any other Act;
      4. Where it is necessary to provide a foreign government or international organization with personal information in order to implement a treaty or any other international agreement;
      5. Where personal information is provided for compiling statistics, or scientific research purposes, etc., and the personal information is provided in a form in which a specific individual cannot be identified;
      6. Where it is deemed obviously necessary for the interests of the subject of information to disclose his/her personal information to a third party when the subject of information or his/her legal representative cannot give consent because he/she is unable to express his/her intention or by reason of his/her lack of current address, etc.;
      7. Where it is necessary to investigate a crime, and institute and sustain a public prosecution;
      8. Where it is necessary for a court to perform its judicial functions;
      9. Where special reasons exist under any executive order.
    2. Korea University will do its best to observe the relevant Acts and subordinate statutes for use and disclosure of personal information and to prevent any exploitation and infringement on such information.

  4. Period of Retention and Use of Personal Information
    1. When the purpose of personal information¡¯s management has been achieved and it becomes unnecessary to retain such information, it shall be destroyed without delay except for cases where the information shall be kept in accordance with any other Acts.

  5. Procedures and Methods for Destruction of Personal Information
    1. The procedures and methods for destroying personal information are as follows:
      1. Procedures for destruction
        1. After or as soon as the purpose of retaining personal information has been achieved, it shall be transferred to a separate storage unit (or a separate filing cabinet for printed or hardcopy versions of personal information) and stored for a certain period of time and destroyed pursuant to internal policies and other Acts and subordinate statutes.
        2. The personal information transferred to the separate storing place shall not be used for other purposes except as stipulated in the Acts.
      2. Methods of destruction
        1. Printed or hardcopy versions of personal information shall be shredded or incinerated.
        2. Information in the form of an electronic file shall be destroyed via technical methods so as to prevent its recycling.

  6. Entrustment of Personal Information Management
    1. When Korea University entrusts a third-party public institute or specialized organization with the management of personal information, its entrusting department establishes restrictions or procedures for the following matters to prohibit the third party from managing personal information for any purpose other than for performance of entrusted functions such as a third-party employee leaking or disclosing without authority personal information he/she learned during the course of his/her employment or providing it to others for their use. Korea University conducts situation inspections on a regular basis to confirm the trustee¡¯s observance of such rules.
      1. Matters that prohibit the third party from re-entrusting another party with the management of personal information and matters to ensure the confidentiality of personal information
      2. Matters concerning making copies of personal information files
      3. Matters concerning supervisory inspection of the management operation and staff training
      4. Matters regarding liability for damages and resolution of infringement of the rights and interests in the event that a trustee violates its duties
